The Illusion of Control

Chapter 12 reminded me that control is often an illusion.
This was one of those writing sessions where the tension in the room seemed to hum right alongside the words on the page. The scene felt tight, compressed — like the air before a storm — and I found myself leaning forward as I typed, caught between the precision of the moment and the inevitability that something was about to give.
What I enjoyed most about writing it was the balance: quiet, methodical work on one side, and the sense of something unseen tightening its grip on the other. It’s the kind of chapter where details matter — the hum of equipment, the weight of a glance, the momentary hesitation that costs more than it should.
It’s also a reminder, both for the characters and for me as the writer, that when you think you have a situation under control… you might just be seeing exactly what someone wants you to see.
The board is changing. Pieces are moving. And while no one’s willing to admit it yet, the game has shifted.
More soon.
